Ga. governor questions Fla. argument in water wars
Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue is offering new thoughts on the water wars, wondering how Florida can preach that Georgia isn't concerned about the environment when it's allowed development along its coastline.

MIAMI (AP) -- Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue is offering new thoughts on the water wars, wondering how Florida can preach that Georgia isn't concerned about the environment when it's allowed development along its coastline.
Perdue on Wednesday said Georgia has kept its coastline pristine and yet Florida claims that Georgia is choosing the water needs of people over the environment.
He says he would still like to reach an agreement with Florida about sharing water in the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint river basin, he added Florida is being disingenuous by claiming withholding water from Lake Lanier harms endangered mussels and sturgeon.
For years, Florida and Alabama have accused Georgia of withholding too much water from the lake, drying up river flows into their states.
