AUGUSTA, Ga.--- Local dealers are reporting a drop-off in SUV and truck sales by as much as 10 to 20 percent in the past few months. Nationally, that number is closer to 30 percent.

With gas prices so high, people are moving more towards fuel efficient vehicles. It is also a good time to buy an SUV as dealerships and manufacturers are offering big deals and incentives on them that could save you big bucks.

We talked to one woman who is staying in an SUV, but traded in her big one for a much smaller one.

"I still wanted to have SUV feel, but need a smaller car with gas prices like they are, it just made sense to downsize. It will save us money on gas."

The drop-off in SUV sales is also affecting the trade-in values of the gas guzzlers. Some experts say prices have dropped by 6 thousand or more over the past few years.
