$5.99 a gallon or sold out
In Georgia and South Carolina, the story is the same. Gas stations that aren't selling gas for more than five bucks a gallon, don't have any to sell at all.

Augusta, GA --- $5.29 a gallon. Yes, that's what the sign reads.

"It's bad. It's bad. We don't want to, but we have to. I mean this is what we're paying for it, and we have to charge the customers what we're paying for it," Jenny Hamlet said.

Jenny Hamlet is the manager of the Four Seasons Fuel and Food on Highway 25 and Ascauga Lake Road in North Augusta. She's been working here for five years, and says the high gas prices are hard on her and her customers.

"Everywhere you go it's high. We're getting robbed." Donald Shaw said.

"We had a two day warning on this. We knew what was going to happen. So we told our regular customers, the people that come in here every day and shop with us, they knew, and they understand," Hamlet said.

Jenny says they ran out of gas Thursday night because everyone was rushing to fill up their tanks. And just down Highway 25 near I-20, we found three gas stations that were sold out of gas. In fact they sold out Friday. So the signs are posted and the pumps are covered up.

Highway 25 isn't the only place with high gas prices. Check this out, $5.99 a gallon here on State Road 88 and Windsor Spring Road in Hephzibah.

"I ain't never thought it would get that high. I never thought it would get $6.00 a gallon. It's my first time seeing it get that high. They say it'll get to seven, I don't know," Bruce Meyers said.

So while Hurricane Ike tears through Texas, he's impacting drivers everywhere.

"It's going to be hard until the hurricane deal is over with. We'll just have to suffer," Shaw said.
