AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- This week Tim and I talked about McCormick’s new Perfect Pinch seasonings.
They remind me of Mrs. Dash seasonings in that they are salt free. What I really like about seasoning blends is that they provide a lot of flavor in one bottle of spice versus having to manage multiple bottles of single spices. The perfect pinch spices come in six different flavors (Italian, garlic and herb, all purpose, garlic pepper, southwest sweet ‘n smoky, fiesta citrus). I also really like the McCormick recipe inspirations that contain proportioned spices and a recipe card.
For more information check out their web site.
Another great product in the bagged salad section of the supermarket is the Dole salad kit and the Dole chopped salad kits. The chopped salad kits have a nice base of lettuce and cabbage with other vegetables.
They are a good mix of flavors and textures in one bag. My experience with them is that you don’t have to use the entire dressing packet (this will lower the fat and sodium of the final dish).
Last but not least of course is the power green, KALE, but in the baby form (a.k.a. baby kale). Think baby spinach but kale. It is more tender and mild in flavor than the “grown up” kale that we are used to, making it perfect for salads and smoothies! Pick some up today!
Here is a cool blog post I found on using baby kale 10 different ways—enjoy!
As always: Shop well and eat well!
