We hope to expand the Augusta area’s capacity to care for the wounded warrior, helping them heal physically, emotionally and spiritually. We are closely examining existing efforts to see where collaboration and cooperation might be expanded, and we will explore creating new opportunities to serve the wounded warrior.
The President’s Commission on the Care for the returning Wounded Warrior (www.pccww.gov) has outlined a simple, 6-step process on improving how this nation heals those returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. We are utilizing this outline, and examining ways the Augusta area can provide the gold standard of care to more of our wounded warriors.
At this time, we have no particular agenda, but to better serve the wounded warrior and examine ways this community could do that. We envision examining medical resources, housing, transportation, vocational training, and family support services to see where efforts might be expanded to better serve wounded warriors and their families.
