With the help of The Honorable Doug Barnard (ret., 10th Congressional District of Georgia) and others, we have been successful at getting the attention of Senators Johnny Isakson and Saxby Chambliss, and Congressmen John Barrow and Paul Broun. Senator Isakson brought a field hearing of the Senate VA Committee he serves on to Augusta’s Uptown VA Medical Facility to highlight the work of the Active Duty Rehabilitation Unit. It is the nation’s only Active Duty Rehab Unit within a VA facility, and is an example of Department of Defense/VA cooperation called for in Congress’ wounded warrior legislation.
