AUGUSTA, GA---Augusta's Uptown VA Medical Center will be adding a second Fisher House for families of wounded warriors.

There is already one Fisher House in Augusta. It's on Fort Gordon and provides a home away from home for 7 families of wounded warriors who are here to get better.

The Uptown VA Fisher House would house up to 21 families of wounded warriors getting treated at the Active Duty Rehab Unit and the Downtown VA as well.

According to Paul Knox, the retired Army chaplain spearheading the fund raising campaign, the total cost to build the house is $3.6 million dollars, but more than half the money's already been raised by the national Fisher House Foundation.

Augusta has to come up with the $1.8 million dollars to build it, and that's where you come in. The Community Foundation is accepting donations for the Fisher House. If you'd like to donate, you can call them at 706-724-1314 or check out their website at www.cfcsra.org.
