EDGEFIELD, S.C.---Plans are still on track to build a new memorial in honor of fallen servicemembers in Edgefield County. The new memorial is scheduled to be built within the next couple of two years at the intersection of Pickens Street and Hwy 25.

Celebrations will be held there on future Veterans Days, but on this Veterans Day, Edgefield County veterans were honored at Strom Thurmond High School.

The crowd may have been small but the abundance of patriotism was enormous.

Delacey Riley's husband is a veteran and she's proud of his service and the things he's done in uniform to make a difference.

Veterans Day for Nevon Settles is filled with bittersweet thoughts. He remembers his days in Vietnam and he remembers how veterans used to be treated. He says much differently today than the early 1970's.

The new Edgefield County Veterans Park is scheduled to be built at the intersection of Buncombe and Pickens street. The mayor of Edgefield has agreed to donate the land there. The committee wants it built there because they say it will be easy to find when remembering the fallen veterans.
