NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. -- A SWAT team and the Aiken County Bloodhound Team were called out on Sunday afternoon to search for an 18-year-old suspect.

The North Augusta Department of Public Safety decided to send out its SWAT Team because suspect David Lee Johnson is known to have a tendency to resist arrest and exhibit violent behavior.

Johnson was wanted for an incident in April where he was charged with pointing and presenting a firearm and failing to stop for blue lights and a siren. He was out on bond and awaiting trial for attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime during an incident last February.

When the SWAT team tracked Johnson down, he was sitting inside a car. He drove away when officers arrived, almost hitting children who were outside at the time. He then crashed the vehicle and ran away from the scene.

Johnson was later found at a house on Carolina Springs Road after the Aiken County Bloodhound Team tracked him there.

He was taken into custody and then to the Aiken County Detention Center.

Johnson's father is Timothy Houston, who was convicted for shooting at a North Augusta Public Safety officer in 2009.
