AUGUSTA, Ga-- Richmond County Sheriff's deputies are looking for 29-year-old Ricky Lavon Oliphant Jr. for a fatal hit and run accident.

The accident happened on Olive Road and Cooney Circle on July 21, 2011. A truck hit 64-year-old James Curry while he was crossing the street. Curry was walking with a shopping cart to recycle cans.

Days later, Curry died from his injuries at Georgia Health Sciences Medical Center.

Witnesses say the truck that hit James Curry was an older model black Chevy S-10 with a faded blue door. Two white males in their 30s were in the truck, and one wasn't wearing a shirt.

So now, Richmond County Captain Scott Gay says Oliphant is wanted for that accident.

Oliphant is on parole after being released from prison May 13, 2011.

He had been at the Jefferson County Correctional Institute since July 2008 for theft by receiving stolen property. He was sentenced to 5 years for that crime.

Oliphant has a criminal past. Records from the Georgia Department of Corrections show he was sentenced to 5 years back in 2004 for entering vehicles.

A year later, he was sentenced to 7 years for theft by taking.
