AIKEN, S.C. -- The suspect accused of fatally shooting an Aiken Public Safety officer is due in court on Monday.

Joshua Tremaine Jones, 26, was captured on the 300 block of Youmans Street in Batesburg, S.C., on Saturday.

He is the suspect in the shooting death of Aiken Public Safety Master Cpl. Sandy Rogers.

He is now booked into the Aiken County jail, charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Jones will go in front of the bond judge at 9 a.m. Monday to explain the process. The judge will decide if he will get bond for the weapons charge.

We also have learned he is on hold for Richmond County. This comes after his pregnant girlfriend, 21-year-old Cayce Vice, was found dead Saturday morning in her Washington Road apartment in Augusta.

Jones has had several run-ins with the law. He pleaded guilty in April 2009 to one count of weapons/sale or delivery of a pistol to, and possession by, certain persons unlawful.

He served 108 days in Aiken County custody.

Jones also gave false information to a police officer in July when he was found carrying a concealed weapon and was in violation of a seat belt law.
