AIKEN CTY, S.C.---A man and a woman were taken to the Aiken County Detention Center after a meth lab bust overnight at 785 Jackson Road in Jackson.

Deputies arrived to a strong smell of chemicals.

They saw Crystal Lariscey in the yard, but they say she went back inside to try and get rid of evidence. Deputies seized it and arrested her, along with Ronald Doyle, Jr. The two are charged with attempting to manufacture methamphetamine.

“We believe they were making the methamphetamine not only for his personal use, but for distribution,” said Sheriff Michael Hunt.

It took the sheriff's office, North Augusta Public Safety, and Aiken Public Safety approximately six hours to clean up the lab.

A six-year-old girl was in the home at the time, and is now in protective custody.

How sad! It's bad enough to kill yourself with drugs such as this, but to have a six-year-old in the home? I hope the parent(s) never get that little girl back. I pray she can be adopted into a loving home and never have to worry about her life being so carelessly risked for a quick high.

I wish the deputies my neighbor and I called had better noses. We suggested they roll down the window and take a deep breath when they drove through. They didn't smell anything. My neighbor gave up and decided he was going to take his elderly relatives and move them to Springlakes. Besides the pot, he said not only did the house next door smell bad, but as a chesmist he knew they were making drugs and there was a good chance the house would blow up. He didn't want to be next door when it happened. He was right, after those neighbors finally moved a few streets over, the "head of the household" was busted for cocaine, after a suspicious activity tip, but only got First Offender Status. After we watched drugs running out of that first house night and day from '99 to the time they left, it was really frustrating to see him right back out on the street. The stink from those chemicals was one more quality of life problem on a pile of them.
