WARRENVILLE, S.C. -- The death of an Aiken County man has been ruled a homicide, the coroner said Friday.

John Barrs, 68, was found dead in his home Friday morning by a caretaker.

The cause of death was severe head injury from blunt force trauma. Barrs died sometime after 8 p.m. Thursday night, Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton said.

Deputies responded to the home on Springwood Loop near Mulberry court and began treating it as a homicide investigation because of suspicious circumstances.
