Confederate Monument covered in graffiti
Vandals hit the Confederate Monument in downtown Augusta Sunday night, spraying the display with anti-white messages.

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Vandals hit the Confederate Monument in downtown Augusta Sunday night, covering the display with racist messages.

Messages including "I hate whites" were written in black spray paint

The monument is on Broad Street between 7th and 8th streets. It was installed in 1878 by the Ladies Memorial Association to honor soldiers who died fighting for the Confederacy in the Civil War.
