Georgia man asks nation's top court for reprieve
A Georgia death row inmate is asking the nation's top court to halt his execution until it resolves an Alabama death penalty case he says could affect his legal challenge.

ATLANTA (AP) -- A Georgia death row inmate is asking the nation's top court to halt his execution until it resolves an Alabama death penalty case he says could affect his legal challenge.
Mark McClain asked the U.S. Supreme Court to delay the execution because a ruling in the other case could "alter the legal prism" through which his case is viewed.
The Alabama case centers on whether a trial lawyer was constitutionally deficient in failing to raise objections during the punishment phase of the trial.
McClain is sentenced to die on Oct. 20 for the 1995 murder of a 28-year-old man during an armed robbery of a Domino's Pizza in Augusta.
