AUGUSTA, Ga.--Investigators have found an AMT that was ripped right out of the ground early this morning. Richmond County dispatch confirms it was found on Boy Scout and Skinner Mill Road around six o'clock tonight.
Investigators are still looking for the suspects who stole the ATM. Richmond County dispatch got the call just before 3 this morning.
It happened at the Georgia Bank & Trust, at 3530 Wheeler Road where the suspects apparently used a forklift and left it sitting at the scene.
A Richmond County deputy on the scene tells News 12, "I've never seen one lifted off the ground like that, just on TV. I guess you have to be trained in driving a forklift in order to drive that machinery over here and lift it up".
Deputies also tell News 12 the forklift was still running when investigators were called to the scene to process it for evidence.
There was about $21,000 in the machine.
