WARRENVILLE, S.C. --- It's an unfamiliar sight at Rocksville Baptist. Portable units and police tape outline the place that was once scared to it's pastor and congregation.
"It's been kind of hectic you know. I've been going back and forth from greenwood to Aiken since the fire,"said Pastor William Booker.
Aiken county investigators say an arsonist is to blame for the fire that tore through the sanctuary of Rocksville baptist early Friday morning.Glass that once set in the windows is still shattered on the ground and everything from inside the sanctuary is now on the outside in pods.
Pastor Booker says in light of all that's happened, the church has a new motto "Rising to the Challenge." And as they continue to work to get back into their sanctuary, that's just what they're doing.
"We can't stand still. We got to continue to press on. The hardest things is relocating when you're used to having service in the sanctuary versus back here. It brings us some challenges, but majority of the congregation is upbeat. They're people of faith who really believe we can go on,"said Pastor Booker.
But even with all the challenges, Rocksville says they're solid in their faith.
"We pray they will be caught, justice is done. Even in the midst of that, there's no hatred in my heart,"said Booker.
The same love Pastor Booker is trying to teach his members is the same love that's leading others to reach out to his congregation with donations.
"We just thank God for the support of everybody in the CSRA."
Pastor Booker says until all the renovations can be made to the church, everything that could be saved will be stored in the storage units. Aiken County investigators do not believe this is a hate crime.
