PALM BAY, Fla.— During a traffic stop by Palm Bay police, a driver and passenger were cited for a seatbelt violation. The passenger turned out to be Travis Lee Brown, a fugitive from Augusta. Brown was wanted in Richmond County on attempted kidnapping and carjacking charges from November of 2008.
According to Palm Bay police, Brown met up with the driver of the car Tuesday at a gas station and paid him for a lift. When they were pulled over on Wednesday, Brown attempted to run after an officer saw a plastic bag in his hand which a report shows contained 8 grams of cocaine.
After Brown slammed his head into the partition in the patrol car, he was fitted with a padded helmet then transferred to the Brevard County Detention Center. He will be held there for Richmond County.
