AUGUSTA, Ga. --- There is a new development in the case of former state senator Charles Walker. He is now representing himself and he is challenging his federal conviction and his 10 year prison sentence.

Walker has always considered himself to be a victim of what he called politically motivated prosecution. He says his lawyers should have tried to have the judge replaced and the trial moved to a different place.

In papers just filed, Walker says he is the only person in U.S. history to be convicted for allegedly overstating the circulation of a small weekly newspaper.

The former senator was owner of the "Augusta focus" before his conviction.
