EDGEFIELD, SC -- A 19-year-old is in stable condition after being shot during a party in Edgefield early Sunday morning. It's the fourth shooting in just five weeks at the place known as "the center", and people living in the area are getting more worried with each passing weekend.

"It's scary," said Mamie Kimble, who has lived in Edgefield for more than 50 years. Her first home is on Macedonia Street.

"It's always been a quiet, nice community. Everybody minds their own business and go on about their daily activities, " said Kimble.

Lately, that hasn't been the case. Edgefield Police say the drive-by shooting that sent a 19-year-old to the hospital on Sunday morning is the fourth shooting in just five weeks.

The Edgefield Police department say the elderly living in this neighborhood aren't used to seeing crimes scenes like this.

"No they're not because we've never had it before in the past," said Kimble.

Kimble says the seniors in the quiet neighborhood are growing weary of all the violence, especially since it's all happening right in front of their homes and their church.

"I'm pretty sure most of the elderly people are thinking the same thing about moving away because you never know what these youngsters might do, what might be on their mind," said Kimble.

And the shootings are getting more dangerous. This weekend was the first time someone has been hit by a bullet and while the teen is expected to survive; Kimble worries if it happens again, the next person may not be as lucky.

"It's scary, it makes me scared for the elderly," said Kimble.

For Kimble, the solution to the rising violence in this quiet neighborhood is a simple one.

"Maybe if they can't do the right thing and close it down for somebody really gets killed or hurt," said Kimble.

The 19 year old that was injured during the shooting was taken to MCG by helicopter. Edgefield police say he is in stable condition. Police did issue a BOLO in Aiken County for two suspects. They believe the shooter may be driving a white convertible. If you have any information on the shooting, you're asked to call the Edgefield Police Department.
