AUGUSTA, Ga. --- The young mother accused of stabbing her two children to death in November of 2007 has asked for a bench trial, and waived her right to a jury trial. That means Jeanette Hawes would have to accept whatever Judge Carlisle Overstreet decides.

The request has not been approved at this time.

Hawes is accused of taking her three-year-old daughter and one-year-old son into a convenience store bathroom and stabbing them to death.
