WAYNESBORO -- A bank employee apparently has admitted to stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars. Investigators say she confessed not only to the bank president, but also in front of her church.

Investigators are trying to figure out how someone could be accused of stealing money for over a decade without getting caught.

It all happened at the First National Bank of Waynesboro. FBI investigators say Linda Burch worked there 18 years and has been taking money for the past 12 years.

They say she took more than $600,000. She admitted it not only to the bank president last week, but also to the congregation at her church in Midville.

Still, one customer says she's pretty upset about it.

"No, it's not right. I don't know what's goin’ through people's minds when they do stuff like that. But no, it's not right, it's not right at all," said Geraldine Thomas, who has an account at the bank.

The FBI and the Department of the Treasury are both investigating, but no charges have been filed against Linda Burch.

The bank president said he expects to get all the money back through insurance. He also says no customer accounts were affected.

I believe that once the FBI and Treasury Dept. complete their investigation she will be charged, it is still under investigation. People have been charged for taking alot less than this so I am sure she will face charges.
