TRENTON, S.C. --- Phillip Merriweather has been charged in the death of his father, Raymond Merriweather. Raymond was found dead in his Trenton home on June 22.

Phillip is charged with 1 count of murder. Investigators first told News 12 they were looking for a .38 caliber handgun that was missing from the victim's home. Now, Investigators say they cannot comment if that missing handgun has been found.

News 12 was there when Phillip was arrested down the street from his dad's murder. He was charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, along with a disorderly conduct charge. Those two charges stem from a fight with his sister.

He's in the Edgefield County Jail on no bond. He's facing 3 charges, 2 of them are felonies.
