AIKEN, S.C. -- A big fight landed four people in cuffs, on the other side of the law.
Natrice Moment, Justin Brown, and Sonya Green were part of a fight involving about 40 people in the Crosland Park area on the north side of town. The fourth person was a minor, who was released to his family.
Police say some people ran off when they showed up, and others dropped drugs.
This brawl comes in the midst of a summer where crime seemed to be down in the Crosland Park neighborhood.
Richard Robbins trip to the trash on Tuesday around 8 P.M. lead to a view of a brawl, right down the road from him.
"Here we go again! I've heard this kind of ruckus before," says Robbins.
At the same time, Tammy Smith went for a walk with her kids and there was a brawl in her sights.
"I saw a bunch of police cars and I said, ‘well, here we go again’," says Tammy.
Again, violence erupts in this neighborhood. It was a neighborhood brawl in Crosland Park on Sommers Avenue. Bricks were even thrown at one home on the road. A misunderstanding some say, landing four people on the wrong side of the law.
"I'm not surprised because I have seen, in the middle of the night, groups of people, angry words, throwing things. Even in my yard; I had to call the police once because there was a group of people fighting in my yard," says Tammy.
A yard that Tammy and her eight kids enjoy to spend time in.
An incident report says Justin Brown ran when the cops got to the neighborhood. Brown was arrested, accused of trying to dump chunks of marijuana out, as he ran.
Most of those in the brawl don't even live in the neighborhood. This comes in the middle of a summer where crime seemed to be down in the Crosland Park area.
"We're putting a lot of attention out there in the Crosland Park area," says Lt. David Turno with the Aiken Dept. of Public Safety. "This was a turn, we didn't want to see."
"It's sad. It's a shame. But, I'm not surprised," says Tammy.
"You teach your kids they come from an animal, they're going to act like an animal," says Richard.
People who live in the neighborhood just want fights and brawls like the one on Tuesday evening to stop.
Lt. David Turno says there could be another arrest as a result of the brawl.
