Augusta, Ga. --- Only on 12, John Neumar has questions after finding out his stepmother 76-year-old Betty Neumar was arrested and charged with solicitation to commit murder. The charge is connected to the death of her husband Thomas Harold Gentry back in 1986 in North Carolina. When John Neumar found out his stepmother was arrested, the first thing that went through his mind was his own father who died back in October.

"He past away recently. And when he passed away she never called me and told me he was sick or nothing. And when I found out he was dead I read about it in the paper. And before I could go see him, he was cremated," John Neumar said.

John said he wasn't even shocked to find out about Betty's arrest.

"With the relationship I had with her over the years, and the way she pulled my father away from me, I mean nothing shocked me," Neumar said.

John said he didn't even talk to his father the last few years he was alive.

"From the time my father married her, it didn't take long for a split to grow between our families. And it just got wider as the years got older," Neumar said.

News 12 interviewed the Neumar's back in 1997 about helping flood victims in Kentucky.

"I saw how the people were devastated. And I've been through things like this. And I know what it means when you come back home and there's not even a pan to warm a baby bottle or anything in," Betty Neumar said.

All this leads to more questions for John.

"Makes me wonder now why he got cremated so quick and nobody told me he was sick, or died till he was cremated," Neumar said.

John said he just wants to know what happened to his father.

"I want to know why he was just cremated before I even know he was dead. This leads me to ask that question," Neumar said.

The Stanly County Sheriff said this was a cold case that came back to life recently after they got a tip. So tonight, Betty Neumar is in the Richmond County Jail, waiting to go to North Carolina.

I would first like to comment by saying, the son, John is a great man and has every right to ask questions regarding his fathers death. Anyone would. I grew up and went to school with two of his children. They have a great sense of family. As far as the split between the family, there are always two sides to every story. I do not understand how remarks about his past have anything to due with the fact that his stepmother is being looked at for murder. In my opinion, there has been enough heartache without having to bash someone's character. Let well enough alone, she has reason to be investigated in the state of NC which has nothing to do with John. He only posed a question of what really happened to his father. With good reason.

I THINK IT IS RATHER FUNNY THAT HE REALLOY IDI NOT TRY TO SEE HIS FATHER FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS HE LIVED. I KNOW THAT IF IT WAS MY FATHER AND HE GOT REMARRIED NO ONE BUT NO ONE WOULD STOP ME FROM SEEING MY FATHER. AND IF YOU LOOK REALLY CLOSE AT THIS ******* HE TOO HAS A PAST ASK HIM ABOUT THE 3-4 EXWIFES THAT HAD TO LEAVE DUE TO ABUSE. HE KNOW OF HIS FATHERS DEATH AS DID HIS SISTER WHO WAS CALLED TO BE LET KNOW AND HER ANSWER WAS I'M SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS ANDHUNG UP ON THE PARTY THAT HAD CALLED AND DID NOT COME TO THE FUNERAL HOME. THERE PAST IS NOT SO SQUEEKY CLEAN TRYASKING HIM WHEN THE REAL BREAK BETEWWN THE TWO FAMILY REALY HAPPENED WHEN HE CURSED HIS FATHER AND STATED HE WOULD NOT COME BACK TO HIS FATHERS HOUSE AND HAD NO USE FOR HIM ANYMORE.IFEEL HE IS THE BIGGEST HIPOCRIT ASWELL AS A SOB TO COME ACROSS LIKE HE DID TOWARD MS NEUMAR, SHE WOULD HAVE DONE ABOUT ANYTHING FOR THAT SORRY SACK OF ****. SORRY OFR THE LANGUAGE IT JUST EARITATES ME TO NO END AS HARD AS SHE HAS WORKED.
