BURNETTOWN, S.C. -- Even though the economy has been tough, Santa has helpers who will see to it that children throughout the community will have a Merry Christmas.
The Valley Empty Stocking Fund has been aiding low-income families for over 30 years in the Burnettown area.
Applicants must have children in the Area 3 School Disctrict, which includes Midland Valley High School, Leavelle McCampbell Middle School, Gloverville Elementary, Clearwater Elementary, Byrd Elementary and Jefferson Elementary, and provide legal documentation and a record of utility payments.
Last year, the fund provided aid to almost 200 families and is expecting to assist around the same amount this year.
The stocking fund has been assisting families for over three decades and helping families provide a joyful holiday season for their children will never get old.
The Burnettown Municipal center will be accepting applications again Nov. 30 from 9 a.m. to noon.
