AUGUSTA -- Several people found themselves sporting new hairdos Tuesday.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society held its third annual Bald for a Cause event. The event was sponsored by Sticky Fingers of Augusta, BugStoppers, Advanced Technologies, Edge Salon & Spa and the Augusta Riverhawks.
The purpose of this event was to raise money for the research and development of cures for different blood cancers.
Participants and contributors of the event felt that the cause and proceeds benefit many people who are in need of help and a cure for these diseases.
Some volunteers and participants have been affected by leukemia and lymphoma after knowing someone who has been battling with the diseases.
Last year, the society raised over $10,000 and hopes to raise the same amount or more.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society will be having the Light the Night Walk at the Augusta Commons on Oct. 1.
