Voices & Vibes: East Aiken Performance School honors veterans through assembly

AIKEN, S.C. -- With Veteran’s Day a week from now, the students at the East Aiken Performance School acknowledged and honored those who fought for our country.

Since most schools around Aiken County will be observing the holiday next week, East Aiken decided to honor their hometown veterans early.

Students sang songs such as “God Bless America,” recited poetry and performed a stage play to display their patriotism and gratitude toward the veterans present at the assembly.

Veterans and faculty say it is important for young children to become aware of the individuals who serve during times of peace and war to defend the country.

They also hope that the children left today’s event with an open mind about the men and women who are on the front lines of our security.
