AUGUSTA -- Many school functions are geared toward the students' parents.
However, Monte Sano Elementary in Augusta held its fifth annual Grandparents' Luncheon in honor of National Grandparents' Day.
Grandparents and parents were given the opportunity to eat lunch with their children, sit in class with them to help them with their work and could get their blood pressure checked by nursing students from AR Johnson Magnet School.
Faculty, volunteers and grandparents feel that the school's annual luncheon is a great way to acknowledge the students' grandparents and open the school's doors to the local community.
After five consecutive years, the faculty at Monte Sano hope to continue adding more to this special occasion and that more grandparents will attend this event.
