ATLANTA (AP) -- Employees at the state Department of Driver Services are asking citizens to donate items for firefighters battling wildfires in south Georgia.
Collection boxes are set up at DDS Customer Service Centers around the state. Items -- new and unopened -- may be dropped at the centers through Wednesday.
Items being requested include bandanas, toothpaste and batteries.
The agency released a statement saying that firefighters on duty are unable to leave the area to obtain the items.
The Driver Service centers will be closed Saturday through Monday for the Memorial Day holiday and will reopen on Tuesday (May 29).
A complete list of requested snacks, beverages, apparel, and personal hygiene items may be found at www.dds.ga.gov.
