Working at Sibley Mill was my entry job at Graniteville Company. Like Mary, it meant a great deal to me. I agree with her about the Felkers, but I am very glad that Clay Boardman wants to buy and develop it for the sake of historical restoration and the community.

Being a former employee of Avondale Mills and reading this letter really makes me sick. The Felkers are pulling someones leg if you really believe they had higher offers and still came to you. They shut us down and didn't offer anything to us except our unemployment checks! The employees that worked hard and made Avondale Mills what it was were just thrown to the curb and not given a second thought while the Felker's walked out of there with their big fat wallets and not another care in the world. I do think that the historial perservation is very important to this community but I think we need to give credit where it is due and that is not to the Felkers but to you my friend. The Felkers could care less about this community or what they did to the employees that were loyal to them for so many years. My co-workers were like family and I saw a lot of them really hurt by this and I know what I personally went through and in I just can't comprehend that anything the Felkers do would be good for anyone other than themselves. I guess you would have had to have worked for Avondale Mills to understand what I am really talking about but I am also positive that anyone who did work there understands perfectly.
