EVANS --- It was Thanksgiving, Italian-style Monday at the Garlic Clove in Evans, but it was more than just good food and fun. It was to help feed the hungry.
News 12's Richard Rogers and Meredith Anderson teamed up with some other volunteers to play waiter and waitress. All of the proceeds are split between the Golden Harvest Food Bank and Columbia County Cares. After the last plate of pasta was served, both groups will get to divide $3853.
Lou Reda with Columbia County Cares explains the days as "to help the less fortunate, the hungry people out there that need it. Particularly at this time with the holidays going on and with the numbers we're serving rising so drastically, we are very blessed to have people who were willing to do this and go out of our way to help us."
The food was excellent with Chef Jeff in the kitchen. There were no major mishaps, even with the Columbia County Sheriff, county officials, News 12 Alum who now heads up Augusta's Wounded Warrior effort, Newsradio 1230 AM WNRR Augusta's Will Nunley, and other media members, trying to share the same space.
