7th Annual Empty Bowl needs help from our community to design event posters and t-shirts. A call to action from the 2008 Empty Bowl event planners for kids in our community to help other kids’ right here at home that are less fortunate. We are asking local CSRA students, art teachers and home-schoolers for help designing our posters and t-shirts for the 2008 event.
Design specs:
Your design can be black & white or in color, hand-drawn or computer generated, but it must be a maximum size of 8” x 8” incorporating “Empty Bowl 2008” and our slogan “Ending Hunger Together.” The winning design will be featured on all our event posters and t-shirts all over town! Plus the winning designer receives a $100.00 saving bond.

Reason for the Empty Bowl project:
Hunger is a problem faced by many right here in the CSRA... the Augusta Jewish Community Center (AJCC) is proud to be the organizer of the 7th Annual Empty Bowl Luncheon that raises funds to support the Golden Harvest Food Bank, which distributes over 12 million pounds of grocery products to 30 area counties and the AJCC, which houses a food pantry and provides education, social and cultural programming for children, adults and seniors.
About the Empty Bowl Event:
The idea began with serving a simple lunch of soup and bread and desserts. Each patron chose a beautifully hand-crafted ceramic bowl made by local students to take home as a reminder of hunger in the world. The event
has grown to community-wide participation. Last year Empty Bowl, boasted soups, baked goods, and foods from over 60 area restaurants, hundreds of hand-made ceramic bowls to choose from, fabulous musical entertainment, a kids’ corner, and many silent auction items. Over 500 community members joined us for lunch to answer the call for help to fight hunger in the CSRA. Together we raised over $10,000.00!
