The South has long been a living cabinet of curiosities to scientists both at home and abroad. Since the Colonial Period, naturalists, botanists, and artists were dispatched to the swamps and piney woods to document the myriad species of plant, animal, and insect inhabiting the sweltering South. The exhibit includes prints and writings from many of the South’s pioneer naturalists. Represented will be John Lawson, Mark Catesby, John Abbot, William Bartram, Alexander Wilson, André Michaux, and John James Audubon. Go to www.hickory-hill.org for more information. Please call 706-595-7777 for a tour appointment.
