AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- Country artist Luke Bryan played a private concert Wednesday night in Augusta. The Georgia native came to the city to help raise money for the Children's Hospital of Georgia.

About 200 people were at the invitation only fundraiser at Enterprise Mills. The ACM Entertainer of the Year snuck quietly into town for the show. The proceeds for the exclusive event will go to the building a new camp for the Children's Hospital of Georgia.

Kaci Johnson is one of the liaisons for the camp project. She says, "The Children's Hospital of Georgia and the Family Y have joined together to build a new pediatric disabilities camp on the property at Camp Lakeside."

The cause hits close to home for Bryan. His son, Bo, was a patient at the Children's Hospital of Georgia a few years back.

"My wife and I, we were brand new parents, we didn't know what we were doing, and to be thrust into a situation that was that scary, you learned how special this place is right off the bat," he says.

Bo, now five, was just five weeks old when he had to have emergency surgery in Augusta.

Bryan says, "What he had was pyloric stenosis, and that's where the opening of your stomach thickens and closes, so essentially, you're feeding him, and it comes all back up."

Doctors were able to fix the problem, and now, five years later, Luke Bryan is giving back to the hospital that helped save his son's life.

He says, "I'm just proud to be from Georgia and know that this area has something so wonderful for kids."

Johnson says, "We're thrilled to have him. It gives our project great credibility, and it just helps us prove our mission."

The Children's Hospital of Georgia offers several different specialized camps for their patients, but this camp will be the closest to home.
