Former Augusta State star Garret Siler is trying to make the Atlanta Hawks roster and offers up his thoughts from the first few days of training camp:
Well here we go. Camp has been very interesting, just to see the whole team all together and realize that the guys that you see on TV are hopefully going to be your teammates. The first day was tough, though--just a whole bunch of running and full court drills. But being from ASU and dealing with Dip (Metress), I am prepared for it. But it is a change of pace and everybody is athletic and can play. I'm glad that I'm holding my own.
A lot of the veterans are really cool. Marvin Williams and Al Horford have been really nice and have shown me the ropes and just told me the right things to do. But overall I'm loving this experience, and with the tough practices you do have the tough rewards with great massages and a great cold and hot whirlpool. But right now I have got to go the team dinner, and rookies have got to be there first, so until the next time, have a good one and come on up to Atlanta to see me and the Hawks play!
