Week 4 high school football thoughts

Here are some thoughts about week four of the high school football season.

First of all, got to give it up to Lincoln County. Talk about a team that is full of walking wounded, yup, that's the Red Devils. But despite the injuries, despite having about a third of the amount of kids Greenbrier does, Lincoln County went out and manhandled the Wolfpack. Larry Campbell never has the most talent to work with, never has the biggest roster, but all he does is know how to teach football. He is a joy to watch and hasn't lost a thing. Here's hoping he's around for a long time to come.

Great win by ARC Friday. The Musketeers have been searching for an identity, but found it in shutting out Hephzibah. Drek Reid had a great game in running the show and now the Musketeers are back on the radar and could vie for the region title.

Really Butler? Who saw this coming? Three straight wins and three straight shutouts! OK, they haven't beaten the best in the world, but on Friday they take on Grovetown, by far their toughest opponent to date.

The ugly of the week comes from the Fox Creek/North game. Early in the third things got ugly when a tackle resulted in a brawl and at least 10 ejections. It's been a great start to the year for the Predators but this leaves a black mark in the worst way. Now it's likely they'll play shorthanded against Denmark Olar and will have their work cut out for them.

By the way,in case your wondering how I voted in the Power Poll:

1. North Augusta

2 Strom Thurmond

3. Evans

4.Williston Elko

5. Jefferson County

6. Butler

7. Aquinas

8. ARC

9. Silver Bluff

10. Aiken
