So this may be a day or two late, but football season has finally arrived! For many, this is the best time of year in the world of sports. Not only are people getting geared up for their fantasy football drafts, but also, cleaning up the grills and getting ready for go tailgating. Whether it's Death Valley, Athens, Atlanta, Columbia, or Statesboro, this is what its all about.
For me, I love football and the high school ranks really are something special. These are kids who put their blood, guts and tears into five months of the year and in many cases longer.
As I'm sure many of you have noticed, we've redesigned our web site to have pages for every team in the area. It was a massive undertaking and we only want to improve on it as the season goes on. WRDW has also partnered with the Augusta Chronicle to give you even better coverage then before. You'll find all the scores here but also the stories behind the scores there. Once again, we will be putting the video of our Operation Football Live shows shortly after we go off the air on Friday's. This way you can go back and see what you may have missed.
We will also doing weekly stories and again, with the help of the Chronicle, selecting a player of the week.
One way you can get involved is to add pictures from games you go to. Just upload them and then go to our See It, Shoot It, Send It page and upload your pictures. Doesn't matter if it's Pee Wee or JV or High School, feel free to send us yours. Just let us know what school your affiliated with and we'll attach them to the appropriate page.
Don't be afraid to say hi to myself or Jake Young when you see us out and about at ballgames!
Enjoy the games folks and we'll see ya there.
