In South Carolina, some communities have mosquito control agencies, but others do not. Check out the list for more information.
During 2012, Mosquito Control responded to 1,425 individual complaints. The average for the three years prior was 550 complaints each year. County residents were worried about West Nile virus after all the cases developed in Texas and Oklahoma. Throughout the country last year, there were 5,500 human cases of West Nile virus with 280 deaths. Richmond County had three human cases for 2012, with no deaths.
