AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Can you hear me now?
There is probably nothing more frustrating than spotty cell service or dropped calls. And how about a slow Internet connection at home? That can drive anyone crazy.
If you want to get this fixed, you've got to keep your cool when you are on the phone with a representative. It's hard to imagine going through the day without texts, emails or phone calls, but panicking won't fix the problem.
Your telephone and Internet are necessities in today's busy world -- services a lot of us can't live without.
That's why you need to be prepared if and when there is a problem. Before you call customer service, make sure you have the facts at your fingertips with copies of your bill and detailed information about the problem.
Be assertive, but not angry, as starting out nasty will only put the other person on defense.
"When you have an issue with a service provider, contract them directly but prepared before you reach out," says Angie Hicks of Angie's List. "Know what service you need, your problem is and also check around with competitors. A lot of the communication services are offering all kinds of deals these days, so know what's out there so you can ask for that deal as well."
If you are not getting results, don't be afraid to ask for upper management to deal with your problem.
Finally, if you are not getting any help, don't be afraid to explain the consequences. Tell them they will no longer have your business.
