AUGUSTA, Ga. -- First impressions are everything and that includes for your home. Having great curb appeal will add value to your home, whether it's on the market or you plan to say forever.
At face value, roof cleaning can feel like a do-it-yourself project, but it's not.
Let's face it ... you're going to be on the roof, on a ladder, using water and detergent, which can be a dangerous recipe ... so leave it to the professionals.
However, you need to be careful about companies that want to use pressure washers or abrasive detergents to clean your roof. Both could potentially cause damage.
You want someone that is not just going to clean it but protect it.
"We use a solution that we put on the roof it's called soft wash, we spray it from the gutter line and we have a air compressor on our truck, which run the pumps. We are able to shoot 560 feet from the ladder on the roof itself," said Michael Spiczenski, a roof cleaning contractor.
Roof cleaning can cost between $200 to $1,200. The price depends on various factors, including the size and shape of the roof.
Now if your roof is in need of repairs or replacement, it doesn't make sense to invest in a cleaning.
If you're not sure, have a home inspector check it out before you do anything.
